Week 1: We meet with the volunteers and held a small group training and preparation session to prepare for the activities later in the month.

Week 2: Academic Vacation School - During this week of academic reinforcement, we worked in 5 classes were we helped children to practice reading, writing, and math.

Week 3: Vacation Bible School Games and fun classes where children paint, cut, and talk about how we can grow together and united. The emphasis this year is "UNITED WE CAN DO IT". This past month we were celebrating!

LEARNING

LEARNING

I could tell many stories and anecdotes about what we have been doing, but what happened in September is slightly different.

Two months ago, thanks to your help and generosity we had new materials, (books, pencils, pens, chalk, and chalkboards) which allowed the classes to be both more practical and also more engaging for the students.

However, despite the new materials we had to battle the elements. After the strong wind storms which made alot of our current facilities unusable, we had to re-organize ourselves better to take classes together. Thankfully all the children were open for the necessary changes and as always helped in the learning and sharing. Despite the discomfort of space, which in recent weeks we have faced, we are encouraged to continue and as more children join on a weekly basis.

Always appreciate the friends that we write and collaborate each month for this initiative possible.

With hope,

THE FIGHT AGAINST POVERTY

Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these" Matthew 19:14

The fight against poverty requires actions and solutions to be implemented in all areas of society.

Poverty can be reduced through policies that promote responsible government, access to education and training.

We believe in ensuring equal opportunities for children, girls, adolescents, youth, women, the neediest communities, and indigenous people. It is important that all of us take responsibility and become part of the solution.

Kushis Winaykan works improve the quality of life of children, their families, and communities through development and community organization.

We are now in our second year of strengthening education and support to over 150 children and adolescents in Huanuco.

We believe that access to quality education will help serve as a catalyst to improve the lives of individuals in the community.

We need your support to continue this work! Whether by means of financial support, clothing, food, visits to the community, and prayers in whatever way you can help it is important to us and the community!

We continue WORKING! .

With hope, Rachel, Sheyla, Yenny, Cathia and the entire team Kushis Winaykan.

LOVE FOR PERU

"Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord" Psalm 33:12a
.
July is a month of celebration, as us here in Peru remember and celebrate our 188th anniversary of independence. This moment of celebration also provides us with a moment of reflection and thought, to consider what we have accomplished and to start the work that is still undone. By becoming an active helper/supporter of Kushis Winaykan we all have a great opportunity to teach our children the importance of love, appreciation, and the ability to know the home where God has granted us to live and how each of us can make a difference!
.
The children come to us and fill us with hugs and kisses. In honour of the month of Independence the lesson focus on the history and regions in Peru. The children anxiously learn and are captivated by the experience. This week we will learn about the coastal region of Peru, which stretches from north to south of our territory stuck Pacific Ocean, it's time to colorize, see many figures of animals and foods of this region, play and let your imagination!.
.
Carolina, one of the teachers and has a very contagious laughter, works primarily with the smallest of the children. She tends to the need of each of the youngster with great patience, helps them do their craft, and later leads everyone out to play. Raquel teaches with great dedication and charisma to the larger group, children from 6 to 8 years. She challenges the children to discover the names of animals, food and everything that can be found in Peru.
.
Bilha, teaches the adolescents and teenagers, definitely the most difficult age group to work with, however, she knows very well how to motivate and encourage team work. Despite the poor conditions of the courtyard where the class takes no time is lost as both the students and teachers desire to learn and share about Peru. Throughout the classes it is evident there is a truth and living faith in God and an understanding that whatever the obstacles things will work out for those who work hard and trust in God.
.
Sheyla has been cooking for hours over the wood stove to prepare a delicious lunch the over 100 children who attend the Saturday classes. The children enjoy their cup of milk and bread with eggs. Unfortunately for most of them this is the best food they will receive during the week and not slow to finish, and the fruit has also been shared.

..

While I dismissed each of the children and adolescents, I think of all the dreams that each has in their hearts, I think of all the difficult circumstances they face inside and outside the home, I think of the need for this work we started Kushis Winaykan over a year and a half ago in el cerrito Leoncio Prado in Huanuco. I know that with God’s help we will not stop, but we will continue to follow His Call and work to help all people, because it is possible for both Peru and the entire world to improve.

WORK FOR LOVE!

* Testimony of Bilha Rodriguez, a teacher of the group of adolescents Kushis Winaykan
.
It is often said that people see what to do, but God sees it WHY we do. The Apostle Paul explains how we should view things in 2 Corinthians 4:18 - So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

.
I decided to start as a volunteer teacher Kushis Winaykan Ministry (an aid organization that works with children and adolescents in a poor community in my town, called Leoncio Prado). Certainly many people who have had the opportunity to work with such people in your country or region, will share the intention of forming these ministries or groups, in areas where the federal support from the government and from industry is lacking. These communities do not have basic facilities to live and function normally (running water and electricity). Additionally, those working in these ares understand that the "growth" and "development" usually focuses on providing support for children who instead of going to school are generally out working. Generally the general work by selling baby bottles, shining shoes, or loading with a large shopping cart on the market in the best case they need to reach for the bread at home.
.
Kushis Winaykan provide us the volunteers a space to develop our own gifts and ministry that have been hidden to us. "I never dared to teach and play with a children," said one of the teachers. After teaching and explaining ideas and concepts through games I began to identify personally with her. Now I can say I like to do, especially because I have a deep bond with the children, the community, and those I help with. This bond is only develop through love and dedication..
Every class I have also learned many lessons from those little children that show up in the classes. I truly love this Ministry.Almost twenty people we lead up to each teacher, twenty little people who have a very special way of expressing their feelings. Some jump and run when they see us, we hug and embrace each giving us a heart felt welcome. Yesterday, for example one of children, invited my sister and I for ice cream soother, and despite the grave poverty his heart overflowed with love and compassion for us. There was how to say NO to that child, if his offer was showing us love and trust because she knew that did not reject the pacifier that he gave us ice cream was almost tasteless because it had taken so small that you immediately remove the taste, I'd say it was a very special pacifier which invited us and that we mentioned a while returned home.
.
From the tenderness of Mary's smile and her cousin Graciela, to the tranquility and innocence of Query, and the seriousness of little Gino and Daniel, we all have all learned something every Saturday. Today I'm seeing their pictures and remembering how much all of them mean to me, and how at the start I was unsure if this was right for me. Now I just let the love of Jesus take me to that special place. I must say that the Lord opened a door in our lives, that door that we enter is possible, real and above all to discover the heart of the Teacher in the most needy, and we are confident that He will continue in task of seeing so many little children "Growing Happy."

I´M HAPPY!

.
"..'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?'. "The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.' Matthew 25:37-40 (New International Version)
.
March and April were very blessed months, the positive response of friends and friends of the campaign to collect clothes, shoes and toys began in February, allowed us to get help in March to more than 100 children, adolescents and mothers Human settlement of Leoncio Prado Huanuco, who were very happy with this show of affection before the change of season and the need for more warm clothes.
.
.

Also, in April launched a deworming campaign, thanks to the collaboration of the Church and Christian Missionary Alliance of Huanuco, who donated medicines could serve about 100 children from the community.
.
Furthermore, we continue with the strengthening of school classes in math and language, on Mondays, Wednesday and Friday, this Initiative is a partnership of 15 volunteers who devote their evenings to teach children. Similarly we are continuing with Bible classes every Saturday, where children learn, have fun, and feel and learn more about the Love of God expressed through the dynamic and rich lunch they receive at each class.

Lerning with Kushis!

And Jesus grew in wisdom, stature and favor with God and men. Luke 2:52
.
Kushis Winaykan began this year with the task of accompanying and teaching, providing reinforcement in the areas of school mathematics and language to 50 children enrolled in primary education.
.
For this task was convened 10 peer educators who have voluntarily committed during the years 2009 to teach every evening from Monday - Wednesday - Friday, to reinforce the learning of children, since many of them do not have any adult who can provide this necessary support.
.
Saturday classes will continue with biblical principles and values, where about 150 children between 2 to 14 years attending permanently, and where he received his lunch with the help of people who dream of a better world!
.
We encourage you to join this initiative by donating school supplies, non-perishable food and clothing. There are many ways to give us your support!
